Calathes, born February 7, 1989, trained as a player in the United States. His family grew up in Florida and the new Barça player studied and played at Florida University from 2007 to 2009. That summer, at the age of 20, he received an offer from Panathinaikos. He played in the PAO from 2009 to 2012, before spending a year at Lokomotiv (2012-13). He played 138 games over two seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies (2013-15) in the NBA before returning to Panathinaikos in 2015.
Over the years, Calathes has become a first-rate assist provider and a great ‘pick n’ roll ’player. He's a great defender thanks to his reading of the game and his intelligence on the court.
