Josep Maria Bartomeu i Floreta (Barcelona, 6 February 1963) has been an FC Barcelona member since 1974, he's member number 15,247. Bartomeu became president of FC Barcelona on 23 January 2014, the date on which Sandro Rosell presented his resignation. The man who had been vice president up to that point, assumed the post of president and in elections on 18 July 2015 his candidacy was the winning one with almost 55% of the vote, far ahead of the other three candidates. 

Before assuming the presidency, he had fulfilled various other roles at FC Barcelona. Between 2003 and 2005 he was the director responsible for the handball and basketball sections and in 2010 he returned to the Club as sporting vice president.

With Josep Maria Bartomeu as president, the Club's professional teams have maintained their success, the highlight being Barça's treble winning campaign in 2014/15, consisting of the league title, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. 

One of his principal aims, set out in the Club's Strategic Plan, is to convert the institution into the most admired, loved and international in the world, with income of around 1,000 million Euros by 2021 and with the construction of the 'Espai Barça', the best sporting complex in the world, in the centre of a great city, as well as to maintain sporting excellence on the field also. 

Married and father of two, he is a partner and CEO of the ADELTE Group (port and airport engineering, worldwide leader of boarding and design of large transport vehicles) and EFS, Equipo Facility Services (group of system maintenance and electromechanical equipment businesses).
