RIVAL WATCH: Juventus win before visit to Camp Nou

Italians win their third league game in a row 3-0 against Chievo; Real Sociedad beat Deportivo 4-2 and Real Madrid draw 1-1

Juventus maintained their perfect start to the Serie A season with a dominant 3-0 win over Chievo. Hetemaj scored an own goal early on to get the team from Turin up and running and they didn’t look back as Higuaín and Dybala got the second and third goals.

Dybala’s goal was a superb individual effort. Their Argentinian strike force looked in good form ahead of their trip to Barcelona for Tuesday’s Champions League fixture. They are top of the league with nine points from a possible nine.

In La Liga, Barça are top of the table on goal difference following the blaugranes 5-0 win in the Catalan derby against Espanyol at Camp Nou. Real Sociedad’s 4-2 victory against Deportivo in San Sebastián keeps up their 100% record in second place. Goals from Juanmi and Illarramendi in the opening five minute saw them take a 2-0 lead and they responded to Deportivo’s two second half goals with a Llorente strike and a second from Illarra to secure another great victory. The Basque side are off to a flying start this season and they are neck and neck with Barça at the top of the table.

Real Madrid dropped points at the Bernabéu for the second time running when they drew 1-1 with Levante. Iván López gave the visitors the lead early on with a crisp volley before Lucas Vázquez scored a tap in to level the scores. Real Madrid had chances in the second half with Gareth Bale guilty of some misses but in the end, they were unable to find a winner and Marcelo was sent off late on.

Meanwhile, third placed Sevilla played excellently as they beat Eibar 3-0, Athletic won 2-0 against Girona to move into fourth and Atlético and Valéncia played out a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
