The Catalans, whose 29 Copa del Rey titles are already the most all time, are also attempting to win the tournament for the fourth season in a row, a feat which no team has accomplished in over 80 years.

Statistically Speaking

KING OF KINGS! Barça has won the Copa del Rey 29 times, six more than the club with the second most titles, Athletic Club Bilbao, which has won the tournament 23 times . . . On Saturday, Barça is playing for its fourth straight Copa del Rey title, something Els Blaugrana have never done before . . . In fact, no team has achieved such a feat in 85 years . . . The last club to pull it off was none other than Athletic, in 1930, 1931, 1932, and 1933 . . .

MESSI! MESSI! MESSI! Yes, the man, the myth, the legend — and the G.O.A.T. — once again deserves his very own section in our preview . . . Why? Because Leo Messi has found the net 30 times in 33 career games against Sevilla in all competitions, more than he has against any other team . . . The Argentinian virtuoso has also scored 14 goals in the 17 single-game finals he’s appeared in with Barça, with two of those strikes coming against Sevilla in the 2015 UEFA Super Cup . . . In all, Messi has scored in 11 finals, and Barça, not coincidentally, has won all 11 of them . . . Should Messi score on Saturday against Sevilla, he’ll become just the second player in history to find the net in five different finals . . . Currently, the only player to have ever managed the feat was Athletic Club’s Telmo Zarra from 1942 to 1950 . . .
