Suárez, author of the first goal of the game against Alavés | VÍCTOR SALGADO - FCB

Luis Suárez's goals have become key factors for Barça in recent matches. The Uruguayan scored to make it 1-1 against Alavés in the last League game (2-1), but it’s not the first time that he’s opened the door for his team. The Blaugrana No.9 has, in fact, scored Barça’s opening goal in seven games this season: Atlético Madrid, Leganés, Villarreal, Deportivo, Madrid and Alavés in the League and one in the Cup.

Personal record

Suárez is also enjoying a great personal moment, scoring on eight consecutive Matchdays from Week 13 until Week 21; Valencia, Villarreal, Deportivo, Madrid, Levante, Real Sociedad, Betis and Alavés. It represents a record for the player, who, for the first time in his career, has achieved this goal.

An easier January with Suárez and Messi

The form of Luis Suárez and Leo Messi in a tough January has been sensational. Between the two of them, they’ve scored 16 goals, (eight each), and have given seven assists (three from the Uruguayan and four from the Argentinian). The contribution of both players has been key to the success in this first month of the year, in which the team has extended their league advantage and qualified for the semifinals of the Cup. Both have already scored at least once in five consecutive games, a record at FC Barcelona and second only to Gorostiza and Iraragorri for Athletic in 1930.
