Ernesto Valverde was positive, as you would expect, after the 4-1 win over Roma in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final. “The result is a good one,” said the Barça boss before adding a note of caution when he warned that nothing was decided yet.

The blaugrana coach admitted that the third Barça goal “had hurt” their Italian rivals before his team took advantage of Roma pushing forward to add a fourth.

Valverde explained that he was expecting a Roma side who pressured them high up the field and that is exactly what happened with Di Francesco’s team having success in stopping Barça from playing out from the back.

Furthermore, the blaugrana coach added that Sergio Busquets had asked to be substituted as a precaution and that lining up both Nélson Semedo and Sergi Roberto is a tactical variation that works against strong teams.
