UE Cornellà 0-2 FC Barcelona B: Three points on the road

Cardona and Mujica score the goals as the reserves get back to winning ways away from home and stay top of their league table

Barça B have picked up a hard earned win at such a tricky ground to visit as the Municipal de Cornellà. The reserves posted a solid performance to win a difficult match, and made the most of Marc Cardona and Rafa Mujica’s instincts in front of goal when it really mattered.

A win on the road was much needed after two away defeats and reasserts the reserve team’s place at the top of the table, four points ahead of Alocoyano, who play on Sunday.

Cardona had already had one goal disallowed for offside in the first half, while Cornellà took 22 minutes to have their first proper crack on goal. But it was Barça B who very much enjoyed the lion’s share of the most dangerous football in the 45 minutes, although the half ended goalless.

With three centre forwards on the field (Romera, Cardona and Mujica) it was clear what the intentions were after the break and the ploy paid off when Cardona finally broke the deadlock on 57 minutes.

Barça B never really looked in danger of losing that lead, and the three points were settled six minutes from the end when a long ball from Alfaro was controlled by Mujica and chipped over the home goalie.

Barça B now have two consecutive games at the Miniestadi against Gavà first and Atlético Levante after.
