OC Barcelos 4-4 Barça: Last gasp draw

Three late goals snatch a point that means the roller hockey team still has its fate in its own hands in the Champions League

Barça staged a dramatic comeback in Portugal, securing a crucial 4-4 draw against OC Barcelos, the unbeaten leaders of Group A, in the WSE Champions League. Trailing 4-1 at halftime, David Cáceres’ team managed to fight back with goals from Marc Grau, Sergi Llorca, Nacho Alabart, and Xavi Barroso. This result keeps Barça in control of their own destiny as they push for a place in the quarter finals of Europe’s premier club competition.

The match started poorly, as Danilo Rampulla put Barcelos ahead in the third minute. Despite struggles, Marc Grau responded with a stunning long-range strike to level the score. However, the Portuguese side quickly regained control, with Rampulla converting a direct free hit before Vieirinha and Miguel Rocha extended the lead to 4-1.

In the second half, Barcelos focused on defending their lead, while Barça fought to get back into the game. Their perseverance paid off in the final minutes, as Llorca reduced the deficit to 4-2, followed by Alabart converting a direct free hit to make it 4-3. With just over two minutes remaining, Barroso completed the dramatic bounceback. Barça now sit fifth in Group A, three points behind Reus, and need to win their next two matches to reach the quarterfinals, starting with a crucial clash against Reus on February 19.
