Kevin-Prince Boateng: I'm here to help as best I can

The new Barça signing confesses to be "very happy with the chance to play in this great club"

Kevin-Prince Boateng has completed his first press conference as a blaugrana in which his commitment and his personality were both clearly on show. The former Ghanian international comes to the club on loan until the end of the season and in his opening appearance before the press as a blaugrana said: “I am here to help the team as best I can….I feel great physically and I will try to use my experience.”

The 31 year old continued: “I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity to come to this great club. I am really happy and they have been two incredible days so far. It’s an honour to be here and I want to enjoy it and win everything.”

Boateng is relishing the challenge of winning a place in the team. “I know it will be difficult to make the starting eleven as there are incredible players here, but it is a gift just to play alongside them.

“Leo Messi? He has been showing for the last 10 years that he is the best in the world and it will be an honour to play alongside him.”

The centre forward has experience in La Liga with Las Palmas and for him there is no better place to play. “It’s the most important championship in the world where the best football is played and where the best players are. I know it and I feel at home here,” added Boateng.

“I want to play now but that is for the coach to decide. The objective is to show that I can stay here for longer.”

Before the press conference, the new loan signing underwent his medical and signed his new contract. Following on from that, he made his first appearance in a Barça shirt for a photo session in front of the gathered fans out on the field at Camp Nou.
