FC Barcelona cruised to a 5-1 win over Leganés on Saturday, thanks to goals from the front three of Messi, Suárez and Neymar, as well as a stunner from Rafinha.
It was the 16th ever time the trident scored in the same game, while the match threw up a number of other interesting stats and facts:
Marc-André ter Stegen reached his 50th game for Barça. In those matches, he has conceded 44, averaging less than one per game.
- Leo Messi and Luis Suárez, with their goals at Butarque, reach the top of the scoring charts along with Ruben Castro of Betis.
- Rafinha hit a fine long-range strike against Leganes for his seventh league goal – four with Celta and three with Barça. This one was his first from outside the box.
- Luis Enrique lined up with three central defenders in Gerard Piqué, Javier Mascherano and Samuel Umtiti. The Catalan regained the ball 12 times and cleared 18 more, the Argentine 10 and 14 , while the Frenchman managed nine and 13.
- Piqué made by far the most passes with 78 completed, followed by Mascherano with 48. The two defenders also made the most passes between each other, with 18.
Barça committed just seven fouls in the game, but earned two cautions (Rakitic and Neymar Jr). The opponents committed 27 and received four bookings (Bustinza, Medjani, Víctor Díaz and Omar Ramos).
Messi’s goal on 15 minutes was the first Leganes had conceded at their stadium in the league. After earning promotion for the first time in their history, they managed to keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid.
