Leo Messi and Luis Suárez earn prizes at the 2015/16 league award ceremony
FC Barcelona, last season’s league winners, came away from the 2015/16 La Liga award ceremony with two prizes. Leo Messi and Luis Suárez came away with a prize each for their fine performances in the season gone by.
Luis Suárez, who racked up 40 league goals to help Barça to the title, including a hat-trick on the final day of the campaign, was picked the ‘La Liga World Player’ award.
Leo Messi was voted the best forward in the league with 26 goals and 16 assists, picking up the prize for the eighth time in his career.
The first team players were not the only ones to win awards, as FC Barcelona Women’s player Jenni Hermoso picked up the prize for last season’s top scorer.
The awards were collected by club president Josep Maria Bartomeu, vice-president Jordi Mestre and ambassador Carles Rexach at the event held at the Valencia Congress Centre.
