FC Barcelona Woman racked up their seventh win in seven games thanks to a late goal from Melanie Serrano away at Sporting Huelva.
The match was as tight as the scoreline suggests, especially in the opening exchanges.. That was until midway through the first-half when Barça were awarded a penalty. Jennifer Hermoso stepped up but lashed the ball against the post.
Barça continued to ask the questions in the second half, while Sporting made a couple of quick counter-attacks which handed a reminder to the unbeaten side that the match hung in the balance.
Eventually, Barça’s persistence provided the breakthrough with just seven minutes left on the clock, as Serrano blasted the ball beyond the helpless Thais in the Huelva goal.
The home side almost levelled things up but Barça had Paños to thank for a great stop to maintain the team’s perfect start to the campaign.
