Gumbau’s superb strike six minutes before the end is enough to give the reserves the three points to stay top of the league
FC Barcelona B earned a big three points with a 1-0 win over CD Eldenc on Sunday with a late strike from Gerard Gumbau which sees them stay at the summit of the league table.
The two teams started well on the artificial surface, as Barça probed in their usual patient and methodic approach. The first half hour saw changes for either side, as Cardona and Perea caused the biggest threat just before Fali had a header from a corner cleared off the line.
The second period was a different story as the game really came to life. Barça moved the ball around as they did in the first, but with more purpose.
Finally, the patient approach paid off as, with six minutes left, Gumbau hit a beauty of a free-kick straight into the net to give Barça B a big three points.
The reserves are now five games unbeaten and are top of the league with 28 points.
