FC Barcelona B return to the top having beaten Lleida Esportiu at the Camp d’Esports, thanks to a double from Marc Cardona. Gerard López's side got the three points which put them back on top of the league after Barça B had relinquished this position last week following a 3-1 loss to Badalona. This weekend Alcoia, who were top, lost against Atlètic Saguntí (1-0) giving the blaugranas an opportunity to take first place in Group 3 of Division 2B with 31 points.
This was a crucial victory for the second team which they had dig deep for, especially in the second half. The first half performance was excellent and the team from the Catalan capital could have been further ahead at the half time whistle. Marc Cardona had opened the scoring in the ninth minute but it took until the 85th minute and another Cardona goal to finish off the game against a resilient Lleida. The second goal was crucial as it came at the perfect time with Gustavo Siviero's men pushing hard for an equaliser and Barça B down to ten men after Moi had been sent off six minutes before.
The second half saw Lleida come into the game, the first half was all Barça. They started excellently, had great chances and played attractive passing football. The game could have been over by half time but the difference remained a single strike. Before the fifth minute, Martínez and Aleña had created a couple of chances before the opening goal arrived in the ninth. The star of the game, Cardona, ran onto a great long ball in behind the defence from Fali and Barça B's striker lobbed the keeper with a first time shot.
From here on in, Barça B were guilty of spurning chances. Alfaro and Marc had a couple each and they were the most incisive and threatening players for López's side. Alfaro could have scored on the counterattack and later on in the half he shot wide from a promising position. Meanwhile, Cardona sent a header wide and failed to finish an excellent Perea run and pass.
Gustavo Siviero's team, who only had one shot in the first half, came into the game in the second. Lleida took control of the game, changed the dynamic and forced Suárez into some saves. The clearest chance from a Doncel header was palmed away for a corner. Gerard López's players dug deep and resisted the home team's advances. When they most needed to and five minutes after Moisés Delgado's sending off they sealed the win with another Marc Cardona goal. This time he volleyed in off the post in the 84th minute meaning his team went back to the top of the table.
