Luis Enrique: We will fight to the end

The manager praises the team's performance while the players call for belief ahead of the second leg against Juventus

The Barça coach in his post-game appearance before the media showed himself to be happy with the result and the attitude of his players who are “prepared for any situation and ready to put in a big effort.”

“I take away the irreproachable attitude of my team. We have deserved the wine even though it was difficult for us,” continued Luis Enrique after the 3-2 win over Real Sociedad at Camp Nou.

“We go into the Champions League and the Clasico alive. I have seen my players prepared for any situation and we put in a huge effort.  We were able to get a result against a really tough opponent who were perfectly organised.”

The Barça coach commented on one of the game’s goalscorers, Paco Alcácer, saying he “played really well”. The Asturian went on to describe Andrés Iniesta as “a unique player, indisputable, someone I have always admired and valued.”

To round off Luis Enrique commented on the game coming up at Camp Nou on Wednesday against Juventus. “We will fight to the end, this win in a good starting point for the return leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League. We need the players to be confident and to improve in certain aspects,” concluded the Barça boss.

A few of the first team players also spoke to the media after the game. Here is the pick of what they said:

Ivan Rakitic

“It was a hard fought victory, the team did a great job.”

“We have to improve certain things that we cannot allow in the coming games, but today we have managed to get three points and we have to continue in the same way.”

“La Real are a team that press very high and they made life very tough for us.”

“We believe in ourselves 100 per cent and the fans are on our side and together we can do it (qualify against Juventus).”

Paco Alcácer

“It was a very good game, a great effort on both a collective and individual level.”

“Just when we thought the first half was ending they made it 3-2. The most important thing is that we won after the defeat against Juventus and now we have to continue in this positive way.”

On Juventus: “The game against PSG was harder and we managed to go through, now we will once again fight until the end as only we know how.”

“Today I played on the wing and I always want to help the team wherever the manager wants me to play. Sergi Roberto is the example to follow, he has played in many positions and has always adapted, giving 100 per cent.”

Gerard Piqué

About the upcoming games against Juventus and Real Madrid: “They are two game that if we win, the whole feeling (within the squad) will change. With the team we have, it is possible to turn everything around.”

“Playing with four defenders does not change the way we play much. It gives us different solutions and more variety by having different tactics.”

Ter Stegen

“Now we have to rest and go into Wednesday’s match (against Juventus) in a good condition. We have to believe in ourselves to be in a good condition.”

“We are playing at home and we have to take advantage of the day to be more united than ever with the fans.”
