Josep Maria Bartomeu remembers how "we buried the past forever and embarked on a journey that had made us into a winning, loved, admired and global club"

This Saturday, FC Barcelona has commemorated the 25th anniversary of winning its first ever European Cup at Wembley on May 20 1992 at an event in the Auditori 1899 featuring president Josep Maria Bartomeu, vice president Jordi Cardoner and former player and commissioner for the celebrations José Mari Bakero.

Other guests included the Barça president at the time of the famous victory, Josep Lluís Núñez, former manager Carles Rexach, and ex-players like Robert, Urbano and Angoy, among many others associated to the club in the past and present.

José María Bakero, the man who scored the last-minute goal in Kaiserslautern, without which none of this would ever have happened, spoke about how he arrived at Barça and was exposed to Johan Cruyff’s revolutionary methods for the first time. “But I also discovered how great this club is and made contact with the fans and supporters clubs … There was a wonderful atmosphere and I look forward to seeing you all here again on June 10th".
