On Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), FC Barcelona and Maybank announced a new partnership by which the bank becomes a regional partner of the club until 2020 and the Official FC Barcelona Bank in Malaysia and Singapore. The launch event was attended by FC Barcelona Commercial Director Xavier Asensi, Maybank Group Head of Cards Group Community Financial Services, B Ravintharan and Barça legend Gaizka Mendieta, who met and interacted with almost 100 passionate local fans.
Through this agreement, the two entities will be bringing Maybank FC Barcelona Cards to the Malaysian and Singaporean markets. With this launch, Maybank will offer a complete range of FC Barcelona co-branded credit and debit cards, in order to further strengthen its leadership of the card market in Malaysia. Maybank is currently the leader in the card business in Malaysia with over 11 million cards in circulation. The Bank commands an 20.5% share of the credit and charge card market in the country.
Maybank FC Barcelona Cards offer holders exquisite rewards such as the Free for Life Annual Fee, cash back on retail spending and a 0.10% p.a. interest rate on savings account for debit card holders that sign up for the Maybank2U Premier Account online. Maybank is also organising a special competition to win an all-inclusive trip to Barcelona including VIP tickets to watch a game at Camp Nou.
