Philippe Coutinho is FC Barcelona’s latest signing and with his arrival he can now link up once again with his former Liverpool team mate Luis Suárez. Both players were at Anfield for a period of 18 months and together they almost led the ‘Reds’ to a first league title in over 20 years in the 2013/14 season.
That campaign Suárez scored no less than 31 goals in the Premier League, a total that netted him his first ever Golden Shoe award. The Brazilian and the Uruguayan played together in 36 matches that year; 33 in the league and 3 in the FA Cup. The two South Americans combined to help Liverpool to one of their best ever league campaigns in recent years with the Merseyside club only pipped to the title by Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City in the last few weeks of the season.
In total the two featured in 45 matches for the Anfield club side by side and now Luis
Suárez and Coutinho will have the chance to delight the FC Barcelona fans much in the same way they did when playing together in England for Liverpool.
