Against Athletic Club the Argentine scored Barça’s second goal, and once again offered the full range of his offensive repertoire on the day he reached 500 goals with No.10 on his back
Leo Messi never gets tired of being the best. The Argentine gave yet another exhibition at the Camp Nou, this time against Athletic Club. FC Barcelona beat the Basques 2-0 with goals from Alcácer and Messi in a magnificent first half for the whole team.
Messi scored the second with a shot from outside the area after a great assist from Dembélé, but he also brought the Basque defence to its knees throughout the first 45 minutes. Slaloming runs, precise passing, nutmegs, assists... we saw all of Messi’s great offensive repertoire on show once again.
His goal was the 500th since he began wearing the No.10 shirt and also his 25th of the league campaign, meaning he’s scored at least that number for nine consecutive seasons in the Spanish top flight. A record number for a legendary player. Enjoy Messi’s spectacular first half in the video above.
