Thomas Vermaelen is out with a bruised left ankle, whilst Barça B player Carles Aleña is included in the 18-man squad
Just a few days on from a great victory for FC Barcelona against Chelsea in the Champions League, the side are in weekend action against Athletic Club at the Camp Nou (Sunday, 4:15pm CET). Barça continue to top the LaLiga table coming into Matchday 29 of the season.
Ernesto Valverde is without the injured Nelson Semedo, Denis Suárez and Sergio Busquets for the meeting with the Basque club, as well as the suspended Luis Suárez. Thomas Vermaelen will miss the game after suffering a bruised left ankle.
Barça B Carles Aleñá is brought into the 18-man squad list, which consists of: Ter Stegen, Cillessen, Piqué, Rakitic, Iniesta, Messi, Dembélé, Coutinho, Paulinho, Paco Alcácer, Jordi Alba, Digne, Sergi Roberto, André Gomes, Aleix Vidal, Umtiti, Yerry Mina and Aleñá (26).
Final training session before the game
Before the squad was named, the available first team players trained on Saturday morning on the Camp Tito Vilanova pitch at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Vermaelen was unable to participate due to his injury, but Aleña and Barça B teammate Alberto Varo took part in the session.
