Ernesto Valverde: Changes planned for Celta

The Barça coach has announced that he will rotate his starting XI against ‘difficult’ opponents

La Liga rolls on for Barça following the important 2-1 win over Valencia last Saturday. Another tough test comes on Tuesday when Ernesto Valverde’s side travel to take on Celta Vigo in the Balaídos stadium (Kick off, 9.00pm CEST). The blaugrana coach described the Galicians as “important opponents” who “usually play well against the top sides.” The boss also revealed that he would be making changes in the team given that “we have a week of intense and we have to manage the players.”

Valverde knows that three points will bring his team closes to the league title and ending the season unbeaten is for him “an interesting challenge.” However, he was also aware that at the moment “the team has won nothing” and that he expects a Celta side similar to the one they met earlier in the campaign.

Celta, a team coached by Valverde’s former Barça team mate Juan Carlos Unzué, are a side who can play in a variety of ways with the Barça boss highlighting their ability “on the counter attack and also their positional play.”

Finally, the Barça coach had words of praise for Celta strikers Iago Aspas and Maxi Gómez, describing them as one of the “surprises of the season.”
