In October 1923 the Club signed Spouncer, a 46 year old Englishman who had spent 13 years as a player at Nottingham Forest. His excellent credentials did not translate into results unfortunately.
He came recommended by Mr.Wall, secretary of the English FA yet his excellent references did not translate into positive results: the team won the Catalan Championship with 10 wins in 10 matches but a 6-1 defeat in the cup semi-final against Irún saw the Englishman dismissed as coach.
