Tyrese Martin, more talent for the Barça basketball team
FC Barcelona and the American Tyrese Martin have reached an agreement for a contract until 30 June 2027. The 27 year old, 1.98m tall forward can also play at guard and will being to the Club his talent from the perimeter in what will be his first experience of European basketball.
Martin has made 122 appearances in the NBA, first with Atlanta Hawks before a long spell at Brooklyn Nets and finally a brief stay at the Philadelphia 76ers.
Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 7 March 1999, the US player comes to Barça to bring his versatility to the squad with his outside shooting and his rebounding and will occupy a space as a non-EU player.
Beginnings
After High School success in his home town in Pennsylvania, becoming MVP of the Eastern Conference in the team's title winning campaign, he moved on to College basketball at Rhode Island (2018-20) and Connecticut (20202-2022). After bring drafted into the NBA by the Golden State Warriors, Martin was traded to the Atalanta Hawks where he made 16 appearances. In the G-League for College Park Skyhawks he made 23 appearances, averaging 18 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
Success in Brooklyn
After more experience in the G-League with the Iowa Wolves, Martin moved on to the Brooklyn Nets where he enjoyed a 2024/25 season in which he played 60 games for the NBA team, averaging 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 35.15% in three pointers, a 30 point game against Phoenix Suns with 8/10 three pointers being a personal highlight. In 2025/26 he made another 37 appearances before leaving in the Nets in February.
Final stop Philly
His last team before arriving in Barcelona was the Philadelphia 76ers where he averaged 2.2 points, 1.1 rebound and 1 assist per game in his 9 matches.
