The FC Barcelona handball team are set to participate in the 2026 Club World Championship for the twelfth time in their history and as the current champions. The 19th edition of the competition known as the IHF Men’s Super Globe was drawn today at IHF headquarters in Basel.
For the third consecutive time, the competition is to be played in Egypt, specifically in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt, located 45 km to the east of Cairo. This latest edition will feature 10 teams, one more than the previous tournament. There will be two groups of five teams, with six teams already confirmed and the four remaining sides will come from a preliminary qualification phase.
Barça top seeds in group A
With six titles to their name, the blaugranes are top seeds in group A. Carlos Ortega and the team are set to face Montada (Morocco) and EC Pinheiros (Brazil), the side representing South America in the competition. The third opponent for Barça will come from the qualifying game between Los Angeles Handball Club and Zamalek SC.
