FC Barcelona has informed Al Ahly that it is exercising its purchase option for Hamza Abdelkarim. The Egyptian forward will join the club on a permanent basis and will sign a contract for the next three seasons, until 30 June 2029.
Currently, 18-year-old is with the Egyptian national team competing at the World Cup and has featured in both matches against Belgium and New Zealand.
Abdelkarim joined FC Barcelona during the winter transfer window this season. Once the necessary administrative formalities had been completed, he went on to play the final stretch of the campaign with the U19A team, where he made an immediate impact.
On his debut, on 8 March, he scored away to Huesca in a 2–2 draw. He then went on to play a total of nine league matches, scoring six goals, including a hat-trick in the 9–0 thrashing of Montecarlo on the day the team secured the División de Honor league title. He also featured in two Copa del Rey matches, a competition in which Barça finished as runners-up.
