The Barça handball team are the Copa del Rey champions for 2025/26 thanks to a 37-17 win over Bidasoa Irun in the final. The victory secures a 30th win in the competition for the FC Barcelona and a 13th Copa del Rey title in a row. 

Emil Nielsen, the Barça keeper, was the outstanding performer in the game, making no less than 18 saves with Dika Mem top scorer in attack with eight goals. 

Dominant start 

Barça burst out of the blocks and four saves from Nielsen and three goals from Dika Mem helped them to a 7-0 lead with eight minutes gone. A shell shocked Bidasoa only scored their first goal of the final in the 11th minute before Barça took a 10 goal lead at 12-2 with a quarter of an hour gone. 

14 saves from Nielsen (58% success rate) helped Carlos Ortega's team to commanding 20-8 lead at half time. 

Title retained 

In the second half Barça maintained the pressure on their opponents. Emil Neilsen gave way to Hallgrímsson after making 18 saves in the final with the goals still coming at the other end. A 20 goal lead at 35-15 was maintained at the end with a 37-17 win to claim a sixth trophy of the season with the hope of seventh to come next week in the Champions League Final Four in Cologne.
