Another blaugrana is off to the World Cup as Frenkie de Jong has been named in a 26 man Netherlands squad for the tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada which begins on 11 June. The Barça midfielder is a key component of the team coach by former Barça player and coach Ronald Koeman.

Second World Cup for Frenkie

The 2026 World Cup will the second for Frenkie de Jong after making five appearances and scoring once for the Netherlands in the tournament in Qatar in 2022. The Dutch were knocked out by Leo Messi's Argentina on penalties in an epic quarter-final.

Top quality Dutch squad

Ronald Koeman has an excellent group of players in his squad, the perfect mixture of youth and experience with the likes of Van Dijk, Van de Ven, Frimpong, Gravenberch, Reijnders, Gakpo and Malen alongside De Jong. However, former blaugrana Xavi Simons misses out due to injury.

Another culer for the list

Frenkie de Jong's inclusion in the Dutch squad makes him the 14th Barça player to be called up for the tournament. Kounde, Raphinha, Cancelo, Rashford, Hamza Abdelkarim, Joan Garcia, Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsí, Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal are all on their way to the Americas for the summer for a World Cup with a definite blaugrana tint.
