The 2026/27 season is set to see two traditional match-ups return for Barça. Both Deportivo La Coruña and Racing Santander have been promoted to Primera División and are set to face the blaugranes in the top flight of the domestic competition.

Riazor stadium set to host Primera matches again

Deportivo sealed their return to Primera after defeating Valladolid (0-2) in the penultimate round of Segunda División fixtures. The Galicians are back among the elite eight years after being relegated in the 2017/18 season.

The last meeting between Barça and Deportivo in Primera was on 29 April 2018, a clash at the Riazor stadium that the blaugranes won 2-4 in a LaLiga winning season. The earlier match that season at the Spotify Camp Nou saw Ernesto Valverde's side win 4-0, with braces by Luis Suárez and Paulinho.

Barça and Deportivo have faced each other 92 times in LaLiga, with the 53 wins for the blaugranes, 18 draws and 21 defeats.

Racing return after 14 years

When it comes to Racing, the Cantabrian side were promoted on 16 May after defeating Valladolid (4-1) in gameweek 40 when Almería lost against Las Palmas.

This means Racing return to Primera after 14 years. The last time Barça played the Cantabrians in LaLiga was in the 2011/12 season, when they won twice – 3-0 at the Spotify Camp Nou and 0-2 at the El Sardinero stadium. Lionel Messi scored four goals across both games.

All the same, Racing were a recent opponent for the blaugranes. Both sides faced off this season in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey, which Barça won 0-2 in Santander after goals from Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal.

Looking only at LaLiga matches, Barça and Racing have played each other 88 times in the Primera División, with 53 wins for the blaugranes, 20 draws and 15 defeats.
