The seventh consecutive league trophy has just been lifted, but Barça couldn't celebrate it for long, as they have another big challenge on the horizon. Pere Romeu's side are set to play at a stunning stadium this weekend, namely the Allianz Arena for the Champions League semifinal first leg against Bayern Munich (25 April, kick-off 6.15pm CEST).

Loss on only previous visit

This is the biggest stadium in Germany, with a capacity of just over 75,000. Barça played there somewhat recently, on 7 December 2022, but don't have fond memories of that match. On that occasion it was for the matchday four fixture of the group stage and the Germans beat the Catalans 3-1.

The blaugranes go to the Bavarian capital looking for a victory and to add another major European stadium to the list where they have come away with a win. The development of women's football has gathered pace over recent years and that has taken them to compete and often win in other well-known stadiums across the continent.

Big games at the Spotify Camp Nou and the Estadi Olímpic

As the home side, they have enjoyed major moments at the Spotify Camp Nou, such as the recent 6-0 against Real Madrid, plus other European matches against Wolfsburg, which set an attendance record, and Roma, just to name a few. There were also the matches at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, where they defeated Manchester City and Real Madrid again. However, several major European stadiums have been the backdrop for a blaugrana victory too.

San Mamés the first

The first victory at a major stadium in the Champions League was at San Mamés, albeit it was played behind closed doors due to the pandemic. It was for the Champions League quarterfinals in the 2019/20 season, but not against Athletic Club, rather Atlético Madrid, as the games were played at a neutral venue... and without a crowd watching on. There have been several more since, such as the 2024 final, also in Bilbao, plus at other major venues.

Most wins at Stamford Bridge

They have won most at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea, with three wins in the last three semifinals. Still in London, the blaugranes also came away from the Emirates Stadium with a win against Arsenal. There were the finals too, in Gothenburg – also behind closed doors – plus the Juventus Stadium in Turin and the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven, where they broke new ground by winning in those stadiums.

Third big stadium in Germany

You can also add the Stadio Olimpico against Roma to the list, plus two other German stadiums, namely the Frankfurt Stadion and the Wolfsburg Arena. Barça will now be looking to add the Allianz Arena in Munich to this particular list that keeps on growing.
