The Barça Legends will face Real Madrid Leyendas on Sunday 7 February at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San José at 6pm local time (1am Monday CET). This will be the first of four matches the two teams are set to play over the coming months. Previously, in November, the Barça Legends defeated Real Madrid Leyandas 2-0 in a match played in San Salvador (El Salvador) with a brace from Javier Saviola. The match will be broadcast live on Barça’s Premium YouTube channel.
The stadium has a capacity of 34,000 spectators, and the fact that this will be the first visit by both clubs to the country suggests a sell-out crowd for the match. The venue was inaugurated in 2011 and is one of the most modern stadiums in Latin America.
Puyol, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho
For this clash, Barça coach Albert Ferrer will be taking Jesús Angoy, Vítor Baía, Carles Puyol, Andreu Fontàs, Marc Valiente, Martín Montoya, Samuel Okunowo, Fernando Navarro, Roger Garcia, Gaizka Mendieta, Phillip Cocu, Roberto Trashorras, Marc Crosas, Nolito, Javier Saviola, Ludovic Giuly, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho.
For their part, Real Madrid Leyendas have called up Iker Casillas, Contreras, Nuñez, Pepe, Olaya, Agus, Congo, Balboa, Savio, Iván Campo, Guti, Raúl Bravo, Fernando Sanz, David Barral, De la Red, Toni Moral and Claude Makélélé.
