A 79-80 victory for Barça in Burgos after a game that could have gone either way. A poor first quarter saw Xavi Pascual's side trailing, only ending up taking the lead at the end of the third quarter. Laprovittola and Willy Hernángomez brought the accuracy that overcame the efforts by the home side's best player in the game, Jermaine Samuels.
Burgos show aggression
Burgos came out flying and fully engaged, quickly going 6-0. The blaugranes were making mistakes in attack and that allowed Burgos to stretch their lead to 15-5. Xavi Pascual's side then managed to claw some ground back by the end of the quarter to make it 19-12 in a sign of things to come.
More in attack from the blaugranes in the second, Laprovittola grabbing a three to take Barça to two after a 2-7. The home side then went more defensive and their lead was down to 1 after a three pointer by Miles Norris. This spurred Burgos into action, who went in 38-33 up at the break.
Blaugranes react
Electric start to the third, but the accuracy wasn't there. Jermaine Samuels was having a wonderful game for Burgos, scoring 7 consecutive points (7-0), meaning Barça had to react. They did just that with attacking transitions and took the lead after 28 minutes for the first time. Willy and Laprovittola were leading the way and it was all to play for in the final quarter (56-57).
Scare before victory
Both sides went offensive in the fourth, but Xavi Pascual's side still had to deal with Jermaine, with only having a small lead, and Burgos asked for a time out with four minutes left. It helped as the home side made two recoveries and tied the game up at 72-72, prompting Xavi Pascual to then call a time out.
The end of the game was heart in your mouth time. A great triple and superb play by the blaugranes' best player in the game, Lapro, made the lead two. Burgos then ended up with the last period of possession trailing by one with six seconds to go, but the final throw missed and Barça had earned their victory (79-80).
Next up, a game against BC Dubai at the Palau Blaugrana on 20 November (8.30pm CET).
