FC Barcelona overcame a first period deficit to take a 88-70 win in the Palau Blaugrana against Serbian side Partizan. Former blaugranes were out in force with the visitors being coached by former Barça boss Joan Peñarroya and having former players Nick Calathes and Jabari Parker amongst their team.

Getting past poor start

In the opening quarter the Serbian defence was able to keep Barça at arm's length. Hernangómez and Laprovittola kept the blaugranes in the game with valuable points but the home side still began the second period 20-13 behind.

In the second period Barça began to find their rhythm and a run of seven unanswered points brought the scores level at 20-20. The appearance of Parra and Satoransky gave dynamism to Xavi Pascual's team and Punter continued to collect three pointers at key moments. At half time the blaugranes had turned things around to lead 41-35.

Road to victory

In the second half Barça maintained the intensity of the second period and their advantage over Partizan slowly turned into a significant one. Vesely and Brizuela came off the bench to contribute and with the final period to come, Barça led 62-50.

The final quarter saw the home side managed their lead perfectly and at one point they led by 20 after yet more points from Hernangómez who ended the game with 16 in total. The 88-70 win leaves Barça well placed in the Euroleague with a 14-7 record in fourth place, level on wins with the teams above them, Valenica, Monaco and Hapoel.
