The Barça Academy República Dominicana hosted the seventh edition of the Barça Academy Cup Las Américas, enjoying outstanding participation and a high standard of play from the more than 500 boys and girls who took part over four days of competition in the spectacular natural setting of Punta Cana.
This year’s tournament featured teams from Canada, Colombia, Mexico (Mexico City and Querétaro), Italy, the United States (BA Pro Miami and New York, Austin, Chicago and the Carolinas), Ecuador, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Japan, and Barça Escola Barcelona. All teams competed under Barça’s sporting methodology and values, across four age groups (U9, U11, U13 and U15) with a total of 157 matches played.
The tournament promotes international exchange between Barça academies around the world and reinforces FC Barcelona’s sporting and educational methodology, supporting the all-round development of young players.
Three different champions
After four days of matches on natural grass pitches, Barça Academy Camps Colombia were crowned champions in the U9 category, while Barça Academy Camps Italy claimed titles in both U11 and U15. Barça Academy República Dominicana ensured local pride by winning the U13 category.
Wonderful venue
Beyond the 157 matches played, close to 2,000 people, including players and accompanying family members, enjoyed top-class facilities and made the most of everything the Dominican Republic has to offer: excellent weather for playing football, stunning white-sand beaches, and a wide range of family-friendly activities.
