The 2026 edition of the Sports Tomorrow Congress will take place in Barcelona on March 2. This sports-innovation conference promoted by the Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB) that brings together R&D and technology experts from around the world each year to discuss the future of sport in these fields. The tagline for this edition will be “Tech your Edge”, opening the door to exploring how technology has become a key tool for enhancing the uniqueness of each sporting institution, both in the way they builds their sports programmes and in how they develop their business. An approach that will take FC Barcelona itself as a starting point: a club with over 125 years of history that blends identity, tradition and legacy with a constant commitment to innovation and transformation.

The event is aimed at professionals across the wide spectrum of sports-related disciplines. It can be attended in person(by invitation only) or online, with digital access passes already available through the congress website.

Part of Mobile World Congress

For the fourth consecutive year, the congress will take place within the framework of MWC Barcelona, the world’s largest connectivity event, held annually in the city. Once again, this has been made possible thanks to the strategic alliance between FC Barcelona and GSMA, a global organisation that brings together the mobile ecosystem to explore, develop and deliver essential innovation for positive business environments and social change.

BIHUB will also have its own stand at 4YFN, the MWC platform that showcases and accelerates start-ups. This will give BIHUB-backed start-ups a new stage to present their projects to a global audience. In parallel, BIHUB is also collaborating with GSMA Foundry, GSMA’s innovation arm, to jointly develop future projects in this field.

A new feature this year is BIHUB’s participation in the Talent Arena Hackathon at MWC, a competition designed for data-analytics professionals in which participants must solve a challenge based on FC Barcelona’s performance-data streams. The event will be known as “More than a Hack.”

BIHUB at MWC Doha

This week, the Barça Innovation Hub is also attending the Mobile World Congress at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in Qatar. On Wednesday, BIHUB director Albert Mundet took part in a session on how Barça is using AI, data and innovation to shape the future of performance, fan engagement and sustainability.

At the event’s 4YFN space, the BIHUB was also represented by the following portfolio start-ups: Omniscope, Made of Genes, Onalabs, Celebreak, Adspective, Riterz and Metrica.
