The defeat to Real Sociedad last week is now well and truly in the past, particularly so because Barça Women won a resounding 8-0 against Deportivo Abanca at Estadi Johan Cruyff.

Kika and Ewa Pajor were back in the squad and it was also appearance number 100 for Vicky, as the blaugranes got back on the winning trail ahed of the Champions League match against Oud-Heverlee Leuven before Real Madrid in the Liga F this coming week.

Vicky, Alexia, María León, Aleixandri (2), Claudia Pina and Graham all scored to add to a Vera own goal that gave coach Pere Romeu a happy birthday, given they dominated from the off, with all eight goals amazingly coming in the first half.

Vicky scores on appearance 100

The early stages of the game saw Vicky López making the most of her 100th appearance as she had two good chances, including hitting the bar, before leashing an unstoppable long shot to open the scoring (1-0, min 16).

Win wrapped up before the break

The second goal wasn't long in coming, as great interplay before a cross by Aïcha saw Alexia score the second (2-0, min 19). María León then extended the lead will a near post shot past Inês Pereira (3-0, min 23).

The dominance was complete and Aleixandri went on to score a brace, first with a great curling shot into the top corner from outside the area (4-0, min 29), before seizing on a rebound after a corner to prod home (5-0, min 32).

Claudia Pina also wanted to get in on the action, combining well with Alexia to score the sixth of the half (6-0, min 35). It was then Pina's cross that led to a shot by Sydney that Vera Martínez turned into her own net (7-0, min 41). Lastly, Graham headed in (8-0, min 47) after a shot from Alexia ballooned up, and that meant an incredible eight goals before halftime.

Rotations and a Liga F debut

A very comfortable scoreline at the break for Barça, which allowed for changes to give other players minutes, while others got some rest given the week ahead.

Pere Romeu brought on Kika and Paredes at half time, before the returning Pajor, Clara Serrajordi and Carla Julià later took to the pitch, the latter making her Liga F debut.

With such a big advantage the result was never in doubt despite no further goals being scored and the ninth win in 10 league games was confirmed. Thoughts now turn to the Champions League with a home game against Oud-Heverlee Leuven on 12 November, followed by the Liga F Clásico against Real Madrid at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on 15 November.
