A sixth Club World Championship for Barça, as the handball team achieved a late victory in the second period of extra time in Egypt against Veszprém (30-31). Formerly known as the Super Globe, the blaugranes added the trophy to their five previous wins and it was their first since 2019.

Carlos Ortega's side had played outstandingly well during the tournament as one of the three European representatives, going against all forecasts and avoiding Magdeburgo and Veszprém in the semifinals due to the 41 goals scored average at the end of the group stage with games against Taubaté (22-41) and Zamalek (47-25).

They were up against the hosts and the dominant African side of recent times in Al-Ahly in the semifinals, but the blaugranes managed to win through 26-21 to book a final place against Veszprém. The result is now part of history, with two periods of extra time, tremendous excitement and a victory that will live long in the memory.

Leading the way with six world titles

This 2025 Club World Championship means Barça has now won it six times (2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2025), including in its former iteration as the Super Globe. They now have double the wins over the second place side Magdeburg with three.

It's also worth noting that the blaugranes went close in the last four editions, reaching two finals (2021 and 2022) and two semifinals (2023 and 2024).
