One of the most successful seasons for Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB) is set to come to an end in June. The investment in entrepreneurship, scientific research, education, and dissemination has reached cruising speed thanks to constant work over recent years.

BIHUB became shareholders in six new start-ups during the 2024/25 season: Rimbarlat, Genomcore, Omniscope, Riterz, Metrica Sports and ADmefy. These additions mean that BIHUB now has shares in 12 start-up companies since this new strategic investment approach was adopted in February 2023.

Biomedical data, sponsorship and advertising

With the three signings this season – Rimbarlat, Genomcore, Omniscope – BIHUB consolidate a strategic position in the health and personalised performance sector with different projects for improving injury diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Furthermore, new disciplines have been explored, such as automated digital asset sales – through Riterz – and new advertising assets – through ADmefy, a company that also won the award for best Spanish start-up of the year at the XVIII REM Cajamar awards.

Continuing with innovation, BIHUB managing director Albert Mundet was recently acknowledged as a world leader in sporting technology after being included on the SportsTechX Innovators 2025 list. This recognition highlights his role at promoting innovation and technological development in the sporting domain through BIHUB.

10 research projects and 8 publications

When it comes to research, this season has seen BIHUB support 10 research projects involved in precision regenerative medicine, how player hormone profiles affect injuries and performance, omic sciences, cognitive training, and fan experience in the stadium. All rolled out in conjunction with start-ups, healthcare centres, research centres, universities, or entities such as the European Commission.

There have also been 8 scientific publications on medical topics or sports tactical analysis in reference journals such as RadioGraphics, MDPI, Biology of Sport, Springer Nature and Human Kinetics Journals.

Over 8,000 students and Executive Programs

When it comes to education (masters, certificates, diplomas, courses, and so on), the 24/25 season comes to a close with over 8,000 students signed up for both online and in person education. One of the main new developments was the launch of the Executive Programs which are intensive and specialised courses designed to give professionals advanced skills in specific management areas. For example, the first of these courses is set to start in October, on negotiation and legal skills, and will be run by the FC Barcelona legal department.

Other notable education offerings include the addition of two new courses - the Master in Marketing and Management of Sports Events with the CETT, the school of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy affiliated with the University of Barcelona (UB), and the Hult Sports MBA in conjunction with the prestigious Hult International Business School.

The success of the Sports Tomorrow Congress

Another edition of the sports innovation congress promoted by the BIHUB, the Sports Tomorrow Congress, took place in March with the slogan “Hold the roots, mold the future”. Attendance and feedback was great once again this year, and it brought the latest trends in sporting innovation to the world’s most important connectivity event, the Mobile World Congress. The congress this year was also a medium for sharing knowledge from one of the Club’s strategic areas, the Sporting Excellence Centre, which defines, develops and applies a high performance model for each of the Club's sports both in terms of learning and professionalism.
