FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Juliano Belletti for the latter to coach Barça Atlètic in the 2025/26 season. The former Brazilian defender and club legend, until now in charge of the U19A team, will lead the reserve side next year in the Segunda Federación. Belletti’s youth team have just enjoyed a stellar campaign, completing a treble of the Copa del Rey, División de Honor and UEFA Youth League crowns. He will also become the first Brazilian head coach in the club’s history.

Belletti already knows Barça Atlètic well. In the 2023/24 season he joined Rafa Márquez’s staff as an assistant for the second half of the league. He had begun that year as an assistant to U19A boss Òscar López.

This season has been his first as a head coach in the youth system, and he has met the twin goals of player development and top-level competition, his efforts capped by three trophies. Before returning to Barcelona, Belletti was an assistant with Cruzeiro’s first team, and from September 2022 to June 2023 he coached São Paulo FC’s U20 side.

A legend on the pitch

As a player, Belletti wore the Barça shirt from 2004/05 to 2006/07. His standout moment was in the 2005/06 Champions League final, where he scored the winning goal against Arsenal. He also lifted two La Liga titles and two Spanish Super Cups with the club. On the international stage, he was part of Brazil’s 2002 World Cup-winning squad in Korea and Japan.
