Bad news for Barça Futsal: Tino Pérez’s side lost 3-2 to Jaén in the quarter-final opener at the Palau Blaugrana. The defeat spoiled the farewell tribute to veterans Sergio Lozano and Dyego and leaves Barça needing a win in Andalusia to force a decisive third game.
Barça bossed possession and chances in the first half, with key shots from Eric Martel, Pito, Antonio and Matheus, but Jaén keeper Espíndola kept the score-sheet blank.
On 27 minutes, Mati Rosa robbed the ball high up the floor and beat Dídac to give Jaen the lead and just two minutes later Lemine finished a counter to make it 2-0.
With five minutes left, Espíndola produced a stunning save from Pito, Barça went to a rush goalie setup and finally broke through as Dyego converted a penalty after Míchel’s handball and with two minutes left, Antonio blasted in from distance.
But from glory to heartbreak. Barça pressed in the additional time, but yet another loose ball fell to Mati Rosa, who slotted the winner home for Jaen. A last-gasp Barça chance grazed the post, but it wasn't enough and Barça must now win in Jaén to bring the series back to the Palau.
