A great win for FC Barcelona in the Estadi Olímpic in week 35 of La Liga, the 4-3 victory over Real Madrid leaving the blaugranes ever close to a 28th league title. Hansi Flick's side now just need two points from their last three matches to be crowned La Liga champions.

First opportunity

The first chance to claim the title comes without even kicking a ball on Wednesday. If Real Madrid do not claim all three points in their home game with Mallorca, kick off 9.30pm CEST, Barça will be champions. Should Carlo Ancelotti's team take victory in the Santiago Bernabéu then those two needed points come on Thursday when Barça face Espanyol in the Catalan derby, kick off 9.30pm CEST at the RCDE Stadium in Cornellà.

A win for Barça would make them La Liga champions at the Espanyol's ground, just as they did back in 2022/23 when a 4-2 gave them the league title against their local rivals.

A possibility at Montjuïc

If Barça have not clamed the title after the game against Espanyol, they have a chance to do so at home against Villarreal on Sunday 18 May. Failing that, there is always the opportunity of going to the final weekend of the season at San Mamés against Athletic Club - although let's hope it does not come to that.
