European Commission Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu visited the FC Barcelona offices today, where she was welcomed by FC Barcelona Vice-president for the Institutional area Elena Fort and learned about the Club's gender equality initiatives.

In addition to Elena Fort, the Club was also represented by President Office manager Manana Giorgadze, FC Barcelona Foundation Managing Director Dr Marta Segú, Diversity, Equality, and Inclusivity Department manager Maite Laporta, and Women's Football business manager Judit Farré. Barça Women midfielder Kika Nazareth was also in attendance as a special guest.

"Everyone has told me that 'Barça is more than a Club'. I also say that the main message is that sport has the power to transform our society and I think sport as a social inclusion tool, as a social transformation tool, is amazing" stated Mînzatu, before going on to add that "Sport has this power to make lives better. And Barça is doing an absolutely fantastic job on this."

Elena Fort expressed that "for the European Commission Executive Vice-President to want to visit FC Barcelona is a source of pride and further evidence of what Barça means and how it transcends". She went on to summarise the projects discussed with Mînzatu, stating "We were able to explain the women's football project, all the Foundation projects, the Club's solidarity both locally and worldwide, and all the work done by the Diversity, Equality, and Inclusivity Department, with all the internal and external projects that are under way to bring those Barça values to the fore."

The visit is part of the European Commission Executive Vice-President's commitments on a two day visit to Barcelona and Madrid on 7 and 8 May.
