Pedri is having a spectacular season. The Canary Islander is a standout player in an extraordinary team and a cornerstone of Hansi Flick's plans. The German has used him in no fewer than 32 of the 33 league games so far, and the player has always responded. And his work is not going unnoticed, for he has just been named La Liga player of the month for April.

Record recoveries

Playing a slightly more attacking role than we are used to seeing him in, Pedri has scored four goals and given four assists in the league this season. But he is also playing a key role at the back, excelling at winning back lost balls, and setting a personal best of a remarkable 18 in the 1-0 defeat of Mallorca on Tuesday night.

Amazingly, his previous record dated back just four days! He already set his record against Celta on Saturday, winning 17 balls, bettering his previous record of 15 in the game away to Las Palmas.
