João Félix and João Cancelo make dream debuts

Barça's number 14 scores the first goal of the game and his exquisite 'virtual assist' led to the second, while our number 2 scores a cracker during a fine game

Some days live long in the memory and that's likely to be the case for João Félix and João Cancelo, who both put in virtuoso performances for the fans at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on their first starts for the Club. Félix scored his and the game's first goal, and then his 'virtual assist' led to Robert Lewandowski scoring the second. Cancelo scored the fifth goal with a great individual run and shot in this resounding 5-0 win.

Hand in the first two goals

Playing in attack alongside Ferran Torres and Lewandowski, João Félix was free to roam behind the Polish marksman. His second striker role allowed him to do what he likes most - drop to receive, pass, hold the ball - whatever is needed. He also made the run on the 25th minute, receiving the ball from Oriol Romeu and making the most of it to score from a tight angle.

Just seven minutes later, João Félix showed his football intelligence with his 'virtual assist' - Christensen passed to João but he opened his legs to allow the ball through to Lewandowski to make it 2-0. A bit of genius from the number 14.

João Félix: “I am very happy”

João Félix acknowledged his delight to the media after the game, stating "I am very happy and it felt very good". "The team did a really good job, and my family and I are happy here, the change has been positive for me", he added.

João Cancelo: fine performance and goal from the fullback

João Cancelo was also making his first start and joined his countryman with a fine performance from right back, both in defence and attack, capped by him scoring the fifth goal with a super run and shot.
