Getafe, always a tough away trip

Xavi Hernández's team visit the Coliseu Alfonso Pérez on the opening week of the 2023/24 league season

After the 4-2 win in the Joan Gamper Trophy game against Spurs with the young players having an important say in the victory, Xavi Hernández's team face their first official game of the 2023/24 season when they take on Getafe at 9.30pm CEST in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on match day 1 of La Liga.

The blaugranes, current league champions, are looking to start the season with a good performance. Barça have won their opening fixture in the league in 12 of the last 14 season, losing only once, against Athletic Club in August 2019.

Three games without a win

The Coliseum Alfonso Pérez has been a tough place to go for Barça in recent seasons. The blaugranes have gone three games away at Getafe without a win in the league, picking up two draws and a defeat in that time.

In their last three visits Barça have been unable to find the net at the Colieum Alfonso Pérez but they won 25 of the 36 visits to Getafe in the league, picking up eight draws and suffering just three defeats.

Xavi Hernández looking for another clean sheet

Coach Xavi Hernández is unbeaten in three games against Getafe with one win and two draws in those games. Barça won 1-0 at home last season against the side from just outside Madrid and then picked up a point in a goalless draw in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

Furthermore, Xavi is yet to concede a goal against Getafe as Barça coach, a record he will be looking to continue on Sunday.
