Spanish Embassy in Riyadh welcomes El Clásico

Representatives of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid exchange gifts ahead of the Spanish Super Cup Final

The Spanish embassy in Riyadh is as excited as everyone else about the Spanish Super Cup Final being a Clásico showdown.

The FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta was joined by Rafael Yuste, Xavi Puig, Joan Soler, Àngel Riudalbas, Mateu Alemany and Enric Masip on a pre.game visit there, where he said "Barça and Real Madrid are two world-leading teams. We are aware of that and we promote that. El Clásico is the greatest show in the world. It builds bridges between cultures. For Barça it is very important to defend our non-renouncable values, from the defence of human right to democracy."

They were joined by a dozen members of the Real Madrid travelling party. "We are the best teams in the world and we have to put on the best show in the world" said their president Florentino Pérez.

Also attending were Luis Rubiales, president of the Spanish Federation, Luis de la Fuente, the new manager of the national football team, and the Spanish Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Jorge Hevia Sierra.

Plenty of gifts were exchanged between the various parties ahead of the Sunday kick-off at 8pm CET.
