Barça 83–67 Monbus Obradoiro: Third win of the week

Saras' team win a very even Liga ACB game after a strong defensive showing by their opponents

A third win for the Barça basketball team in less than seven days, winning 83-67 against Monbus Obradoiro in the Liga ACB. The perfect end to a week including EuroLeague wins against Bayern Munich and Panathinaikos. A double-double by Mirotic (21 points and 10 rebounds) led the team during a very intense game against the Galicians, who kept the score close throughout.

Tight from the off

A very even game from the outset. The visitors' intense approach led to several losses of possession and Barça couldn't settle in attack, each team exchanging baskets in the early stage.

Nikola Mirotic stepped up to lead the home side's attack. His offensive rebounds, along with three-pointers from Sergi Martínez, Rolands Smits and Mirotic himself, allowed Barça to reach the break with a slight advantage (37-34).

Mirotic double-double

The home side continued to impose themselves in attack after the break, eventually managing to open up a lead for the first time in the game (48-38). Brandon Davies, with 8/8 free throws by the middle of the third quarter, led the play for Barça. Obradoiro didn't throw in the towel, though, managing to claw back the difference, but a great basket by Mirotic restored a seven point lead in the last play of the third quarter (57-50).

The Galician side again responded, equalling the score at 59-59, but then it was Barça's turn to react. Dante Exum lit the touch paper in the Palau and the home support drove Barça on towards victory. Three-pointers by Kuric and Mirotic helped to extend the lead and Obradoiro were unable to respond. Final score 83-67, the third win in a week, and second place in the league, just three points behind the leader, Real Madrid.
