Camp Nou to be a centre for mass Covid-19 vaccination

The Catalan Health Minister Alba Vergés announces in a press conference that after talks with president Joan Laporta, the stadium will be added to the six mass vaccination points in Catalonia if necessary

FC Barcelona and the Catalan Health Ministry will be working together over the next few weeks for a plan to make Camp Nou a possible centre for mass Covid-19 vaccination following talks between president Joan Laporta and the Health Minister Alba Vergés on Tuesday.

Camp Nou would therefore be added to the other six mass vaccination points for Catalonia (Fira de Barcelona, Fira de Cornellà, Pista de Sabadell, Pabellón 11 de Setembre in Lleida, Palau Firal in Girona and another planned for the region of Tarragona) if there are sufficient doses to carry out large scale vaccination.

According to the Ministry, the idea is to vaccinate 70% of the population as quickly as possible, reaching a rate of 500,000 a week. The biggest challenge, however, is the availability of the vaccine.

FC Barcelona wishes to show its commitment and willingness to play its role in the great challenge that is vaccinating the people of Catalonia as quickly as possible.
