Ferrao, Plaza and Barça are the best in the world

The FutsalPlanet Awards 2020 reward Ferrao and Lozano, as first and second in the Best Player in the World category, Mr. Andreu Plaza as Best Coach in the World, and also Barça, as Best Club in the World

In the categories of Best Player, Best Coach and Best Club at the FutsalPlanet Awards 2020, Ferrao, Plaza and Barça have all emerged as winners. Sergio Lozano was in second place in the category of Best Player in the World and Didac Plana, fourth in the category of Best Goalkeeper in the World. The awards are a result of another fantastic season for Barça's futsal team, having won 3 of the last 4 big titles: the Champions League and the two cups.

FutsalPlanet's record has a Barça flavour

This is the 21st edition of the FutsalPanet Awards, and Barça has won on 11 occasions. Three times for Best Player: Lozano, in 2013; and Ferrao, in 2019 and 2020. Three times for Best Coach: Marc Carmona, in 2012; and Andreu Plaza, in 2019 and 2020. Four times for Best Club: 2012, 2014, 2019 and 2020. And once for Best Goalkeeper: Paco Sedano, in 2017. Adolfo has also won the award for Best Young Player three times (2014, 2015 and 2016), an award also won by Aicardo (2010), Lozano (2011) and Ferrao (2013).

Ferrao and Plaza share the credit

The Brazilian pivot and coach from Girona, Ferrao and Plaza, are once again honoured as the Best Player and Best Coach in the World, but both recognise that the awards are mainly down to the merits of the team and the titles won. That is why they've also highlighted the award for Barça as the Best Club of 2020.

"As a child, if they told me this would happen, I wouldn't have believed it. It's a dream to be chosen as the Best Player in the World twice in a row, and it's an award that Lozano also deserved and could have won. Personally, I give him a lot of praise for everything. I had to work to recover from my injury and come back in time for the Champions League Final Four, where we won the title and I was lucky to be the MVP,” Ferrao said.

"Like I said last year, the name that's on the award is mine, and I'm very proud, but it would be an impossible award to win without the team, both players and staff. That is why I am especially happy with the recognition that Barça is receiving as the Best Club in the World, for the entity’s commitment to futsal in recent years," added Andreu Plaza.
