The players maintain the tradition of visiting children in hospital

Due to current pandemic the visit takes place virtually for the first time ever

The coach Ronald Koeman and the first team players made a virtual visit on 28 December to children in eight different hospitals in the Barcelona area. From the studio at the Ciutat Esportiva, the first team players were able to speak remotely to the boys and girls admitted to the various hospitals. The institutions involved in the visit were  the Hospitals of Sant Joan de Déu, Vall d'Hebron, Sant Pau, Hospital de Barcelona, Hospital HM Nens, Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol (Can Ruti), Parc Taulí de Sabadell and Cottolengo Padre Alegre.

As part of the festive activities involving the hospitals, the players from the women's football first team made a virtual visit to the San Joan de Déu Hospital. The purpose of the visits, which usually take place in person, is for the stars of world football to bring hope and joy to children who are going through a difficult time and are unable to spend Christmas at home with their families.

Professional health workers consider these visits to have a positive impact on the emotional welfare of the children. Both initiatives are part of the Barça Foundation's Pediatric Welfare Programme which is based around the positive emotional impact that feeling the support of the players has on the children.

During the holiday period the Foundation has given out some 800 gifts to the children at the various hospitals
