UEFA have unveiled the candidates for the 2020 Teams of the Year in both the men's and women's categories. FC Barcelona is represented in both, with Leo Messi as the only representative of the male nominees and a total of eight players among the female nominees: Sandra Paños, Mapi León, Marta Torrejón, Kheira Hamraoui, Alexia Putellas, Caroline Graham Hansen, Jenni Hermoso and Asisat Oshoala.
Messi: 15th nomination
For Leo Messi it's nothing new to appear on this list. In fact, he already has 15 nominations for this award, having been in the Ideal Team of the Year a total of 10 times previously. Voting continues until January, when the two dream teams chosen by the fans will be known.
Barça Women: Third most candidates from one team
The women's category of the award is new this year from UEFA. The eight nominees from Lluís Cortés's team place Barça as the team with the third most candidates, only surpassed by the last two Champions League finalists, Lyon (13) and Wolfsburg (11).
